The Tic-Tac-Toe Irregular Verbs Game

Activity 's name: The Tic-Tac-Toe Irregular Verbs game
Materials needed: White board and marker
Student's level: Elementary
Student's age: 9 -11
Class time needed: 10 / 15 minutes.

Aim of the game: To consolidate, to give dynamics to recycling Irregular Past Verbs in a funny way. This game creates a feeling of confidence among students.

Procedure:

1st. Draw the tic tac toe grid.

2nd. Divide the group into two teams. Each team should decide and vote for a leader who will be the one playing the role of spokesman.

3rd. Once the group has been divided, students should choose either a nought (0 ) or a cross (X) to be placed in the square they choose.

4th. Then , the teacher writes a verb in the infinitive in each square.

5th. The aim of the game is to choose three squares at a time taking turns among teams .Each team will place their noughts or crosses if they provide the right irregular form of the verb in the square. If participants don't know the form or provide the wrong answer, it's , then , the other group chance to place their nought or cross. The first group to win is the one who can do tic-tac-toe either horizontally , vertically or in diagonal.

6th. The winning team should create a short story using the past of those verbs they did tic tac toe with . Whereas the losers, should create a longer one using all the past tense in the grid.
